Jamal Rushdy, Chief Executive Officer
Jamal brings over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry in successful entrepreneurial and high growth public companies. Jamal has extensive commercial and operational leadership experience including leading global orthopedic and biologics product marketing teams at DJO and Tornier (now Wright Medical), as well as a successful track record of building shareholder value through business development transactions. He has helped achieve successful exits for private equity and angel investors as a founding member or senior executive of four medical device companies. Jamal earned an MBA from U.C. Irvine and a BSME from U.C. San Diego.
Lou Ruggiero, PhD, Chief Business Officer
Lou is a performance-driven executive with proven success at all levels of sales and general management in the health care and technology industries. Most recently, Lou served as Senior Vice President of Sales at Pearson Clinical Assessments. Previously, Lou spent 10 years as a senior executive and Board Director in the orthopedic device industry. Under his leadership as Chief Commercial Officer of Hely & Weber Orthopedics and Ossur Americas, the companies posted consistent double-digit revenue growth. As the Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of DJO Global, revenue and share price increased over five-fold. Earlier in his career, Lou served as CEO of Titan Scan Technologies, an early stage B2B company focused on medical device sterilisation and bio-agent remediation. In addition, Lou served in various leadership roles of increasing responsibility with GE Healthcare, where he earned his Six Sigma Certification. Lou is a summa cum laude graduate of St. John's University, where he majored in Interpersonal Communication and Political Science. Additionally, he has earned an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a Doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from Creighton University.
Kevin Darling, Vice President Tissue Products & General Manager
Kevin brings extensive experience in operational management to Collagen Solutions, having previously held the General Manager (NZ) and Group General Manager (Australia and NZ) positions for Gribbles Veterinary Pathology Ltd over a period of seven years. Gribbles Veterinary is the leading veterinary pathology service provider in New Zealand, with multiple laboratory sites, each catering to a unique set of regional needs and challenges. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with a focus on Medical and Veterinary Entomology from the University of Aberdeen. In addition to his educational background and expertise in operational management, Kevin also brings extensive global sales and marketing experience from his tenures at 3M, Mars Confectionery and the BOC Group.
Brad Selman, Vice President Global Sales and Marketing
Brad brings an extensive background in commercial management to Collagen Solutions, with over 16 years’ experience in various commercial roles within the med tech industry. Most recently, Brad was Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Wound Care for Noble Biomaterials, a global manufacturer of silver-based antimicrobials. Prior to Noble Biomaterials, he was Director of Business Development for Molnycke Healthcare in their Advanced Wound Care Division and was responsible for identifying licensing and acquisition opportunities for North America and APAC. Before that, Brad spent 8 years leading sales, marketing and business integration teams at Coloplast A/S, a Danish manufacturer of Ostomy, Continence, Urology and Wound Care products. Brad earned an MBA from the University of Tennessee and a BS in Geology from Juanita College in Pennsylvania.
Chris Wattengel, Vice President Research and Development
Chris brings over 15 years of experience in the medical device industry with a background in the field of regenerative medicine product development. Prior to Collagen Solutions, Chris held R&D leadership positions with Kensey Nash and DSM Biomedical developing materials and products for the orthopedic, biosurgery, and general surgery markets. Chris is a graduate of the University of Rochester where he studied Biomedical Engineering.
